Nestled in the heart of Hayes, Clarendon, Vere Technical High School stands as a beacon of excellence in technical education. Founded in 1960 and opening its doors in January 1961 with 62 pioneering students affectionately known as "the 62 of 61," our institution has grown from humble beginnings to become one of Jamaica's most distinguished technical high schools.
Under the visionary leadership of founding principal Colonel Samuel Benjamin "Ben" Francis, Vere Technical established a foundation built on the core values of Knowledge, Skill, and Discipline. These principles continue to guide our educational philosophy today, shaping well-rounded students who excel both academically and in their chosen technical fields.
Our school has earned international recognition as the global leader in producing Olympic athletes, a testament to our commitment to developing excellence in all areas of student life. This remarkable achievement in sports, combined with our strong technical programs, creates a unique educational environment where students can pursue their passions while building practical skills for their futures.
Today, under the dedicated leadership of Principal O'Neil Lewin and Vice Principal Tyrone Knight, with guidance from Board Chair Kemoy Lindsay, Vere Technical continues to honor its rich legacy while embracing innovation and preparing students for the challenges of tomorrow.
